INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED
- OATS: This is the main ingredient for the recipe. You can use rolled oats, steel-cut oats, old-fashioned oats, or can even use oat flour. You can also make your own oat flour and use it in the recipe. Though steel cuts oats don't go so well in the recipe, they don't blend in the baked oatmeal recipe well.
- EGGS: You can make this recipe with eggs. For a vegan or an eggless version of baked oats, you can use a flax egg along with vegan milk.
- BANANA: Adding banana provides a nice flavor and texture to the baked oats. Also, it provides sweetness to the recipe. Or you can also add ¼ to ½ cup of milk to the recipe.
- SWEETENER: You can also add honey or maple syrup for a little sweetness in the recipe. Or you can also add 1-2 tablespoon of sugar too.
- BAKING POWDER: Along with eggs, you can also add a teaspoon of baking powder for a fluffy & smooth texture.
- SALT: Salt helps in balancing the flavors.
- ADD-ONS: I like adding peanut butter, nut butter, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, etc., for the add-on flavoring to the baked oats recipe.
TIPS TO REMEMBER
- Steel cuts oats don't go so well in the recipe; they don't blend in the baked oatmeal recipe well.
- If you're making oats flour, make sure to use a high-speed blender like Vitamix.
- Grease the pan before adding the batter. You can use cooking spray or butter or even line the parchment paper in the baking dish.
- You can add bananas for a creamy texture. Also, if you add ripe bananas, you just need 1-2 tablespoon of maple syrup, as bananas also provide sweetness to the oats recipe.
- You can also add some yogurt for a more soft & fluffy texture of oats cake.
- You can also use the same batter to make cupcakes or even pancakes and waffles. Tastes amazing either way.
