This recipe of air fryer jalapeno poppers in quick, makes crispier poppers, and tastes fantastic with a cup of tea. I am always on the lookout for some delicious tea-time snacks, and these are a hit. They are a little spicy, so these poppers pair perfectly with hot tea.
I tried the cream cheese filling in the jalapeno poppers, but it is too cheesy for me. Being a potato lover, I tried them with potato stuffing. Added some cheese and bread crumbs that help with the crispier texture as well as cheesy flavor.
INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED
For these Air Fryer Jalapeno Poppers, you don't need a lot of ingredients. I used all the ingredients that were available in my pantry. So let's check the ingredients:
- JALAPENOS: I have used 10-15 jalapenos for the recipe. I got mine from Trader Joe's and these were very spicy. But you can get japaneons from any store closest to you.
- POTATOES: I have used 2-3 potatoes to make the stuffing. Boil the potatoes and remove the skin & mash them. Best to use either Yukon Gold or Red Potatoes, as they give a creamy texture too.
- SPICES: To make the potato stuffing, I have used some spices like cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, mango powder, and fresh cilantro. These spices will make the stuffing really delicious. If you don't have these spices, then you can use the spices that you have in your pantry like Taco Seasoning, Italian Seasoning, etc.
- BREADCRUMBS: I have used panko breadcrumbs. I have mixed 2-3 tablespoon of melted butter to the breadcrumbs and used that in the recipe.
- CHEESE: I have used Mozarella Cheese, but Cheddar Cheese gives nice color to these jalapeno poppers.
TIPS TO REMEMBER
- First and foremost, if you don't want jalapeno poppers to be spicy then de-seed the jalapenos and wash them. Some jalapenos are super spicy & some are mild. So to be safe when you cut the jalapenos half, de-seed the jalapenos.
- After de-seeding & washing the jalapenos, spray some oil. Then air fry for 5 minutes before adding the stuffing. This will also reduce the heat level of the poppers.
- When cutting the jalapenos wear the gloves. Because if the jalapenos are hot, then your hands or face will burn from the heat of the jalapenos.
- Add cheese at the end, as melted cheese will give a nice color.
- When air frying, you can spray some oil (but it's not needed).
- Add jalapenos in the air fryer in single layer and do not overcrowd.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You can make these jalapeno poppers ahead of time and reheat them again when needed. Or you can make them fresh when you feel like it. Either way, they turn out super crispy & delicious.
Once cooked, let them come to room temperature. Then store the jalapeno poppers in freezer-safe containers or bags. You can keep them in the freezer for 2-3 months. Then, when you want to eat them again, just reheat them in the air fryer or in the oven for few minutes, and enjoy!
The one stuffing that people add in jalapeno poppers is Cream Cheese Filling. In a bowl, mix cream cheese with some seasoning and fresh parsley or cilantro. Once this stuffing is prepared, add it to the jalapenos. Top with some breadcrumbs and air fry for 5-8 minutes at 400 degrees F.
These jalapeno poppers are a little spicy, so any dipping sauce works fine with it. I like serving these with Ketchup, Guacamole, Aioli, Ranch, etc.
I usually make a big batch of potato stuffing so that I can use it in other recipes. I use this stuffing to make Aloo Parantha, Amritsari Kulche, Aloo Sandwich, Samosas, Vada Pav, etc. There are so many recipes that can use this potato stuffing.
Usually, with potato stuffing, breadcrumbs would not stick. So you can either use cream cheese filling. Or you can brush some egg wash and then add the breadcrumbs over the potato stuffing. This way, the breadcrumbs will not crumble all over the place.
Preheat the oven at 425 degrees F. Line the parchment paper over the baking sheet. Place the stuffed jalapenos over the parchment paper with even spacing. Bake the jalapenos poppers in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 425 degrees F until crispy golden and cheese is bubbly. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the jalapeno poppers cool down for 5 minutes. Then serve with the sauce of your choice.
