When it's time to fall in love, even lemon can become the cause of it. In my case, there were full dozen of them.
Here comes another book from the author of 'Dream's Sake'. Lemon girl is very different from her previous book, in this book she tries to spread awareness about the most disturbing tragedy. Lemon Girl a.k.a Nirvi is a rape victim, forced upon by her brother. And that's not all her mother blamed her for the tragedy that occurred. And because of that, she blamed herself for everything and lost the girl she used to be and become someone who needs to be dependent on someone for her existence. Rape is such a sufferable pain but no punishment for the rapist but all the shame and embarrassment for the victim. While the victim is being blamed for her clothes or about being open-minded or every sort of thin; while the rapist is enjoying the comfort of life and not blamed for doing such a horrific act.
This is such an interesting story about tragedy, love, compassion that it makes you addicted to the book. I enjoyed every part of this book from the start when they met, actually, it makes you smile. The tone of the book is simple and easily understandable. The story rolls around two characters Arsh & Nirvi. All other characters move around them but have unique personalities. Sam is such a self-absorbed prick, who only cares about his opinion who has a live-in relationship with Nirvi, and Nirvi who thinks her opinion doesn't matter; the only thing matter is to make Sam happy. while Tiya is such fun-loving girl who has many aspirations and wants to go after them and is Nirvi's best friend.
Why can past stay in the past, where it belongs? Why must it come blasting back to surround me with even more ghosts?
On the tragedy this book is based on, I think it covers the issue appropriately while bringing the character to life and getting involved with them. I liked the chapter goes, the author tries to portray the story based on both the lead characters' point of view.
Now coming to the main character, their compassion, understanding, and respect make you want to read more. Arsh first saw his Lemon Girl who had the most remarkable laugh and full of life. Later he met her after 2 yrs and he knew the laugh from standing far but couldn't recognize the person standing there. And Nirvi saw Arsh and remembering him seemed like she was struck by lightning and wanted to forget everything again. Page by page character starts to develop and compassion between them elaborates. And later Nirvi accepts that she has a right to live her life her way and it's not her fault.
Finally, I think the book is worth reading and I think everyone who'll read the book will fall in love with it. Just love the way the author put up the story and language and the depiction of the story is very interesting.
